Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, Steven
Robinson is recognized by his peers, and musical
collaborators as one of the most significant young
drummers of his generation. With already amazing an
array of musical giants such as Rickey Minor, Teddy
Campbell, John Blackwell, Jr., and Bootsy Collins, it
is no doubt that this particular young drummer will
take the music and drumming worlds by storm.
Steven was born into the church, to which a
lot of his experience behind a set of drums is rooted.
As he got older, and more experienced as a performer,
he used his church upbringing to set him apart from
all other competition. Although his drumming is
originally church and gospel influenced, Steven has
succeeded in that art of versatility, allowing him to
blend in many types of music including: R&B, soul,
pop, big band, straight-ahead jazz, funk, rock, hard
rock, reggae, and Latin.
Throughout his career Steven has received
numerous awards and accolades celebrating is gift. A
few including an article bio in Drum! Magazine, the
Louis Armstrong Jazz award, and an appearance on KHTS
1220 radio. However, though out all of Steven’s
success as a drummer, he will never stop learning, and
being a student to the art of drumming.
Steven is currently residing in Boston,
Massachusetts, attending Berklee College Of Music. He
is currently supplying the groove for R&B artists
Devin Johnson, Oshy, gospel artist Dayshawn Mojica,
R&B/Soul band Aftershock, and many other artists on
the east coast of the United States.
